 A LOVE FOR COSTA RICA!

This country maybe be small but don’t let that fool you, because it has so much to offer and the beautiful landscapes that are visible are only just the surface layer. For me the beauty of the country goes deeper than what the eye can see, it is a sense, a feeling and an emotional state that is unexplainable.

It is a place where I can just be me!

A place where I feel inspired, motivated, creative and alive. It is a place which captured  my heart, refreshes my soul, opens my eyes and mind and brings out the adventurer in me.

To me what makes this country is not just the diverse and majestic landscapes, abundant wildlife, natural beauty and fresh air, but it’s the Costa Rican people and their Pura Vida lifestyle, sense of community and pride that they have for their country. They are not ostentatious about living in a wonderful country, but they are really proud in a humbling way to be Costa Rican, to be brought up in a country which has had no Army since 1949 and to have a natural playground and land of adventure and mystery in their backyard.

While in Costa Rica I learnt so much about myself and the quality and importance of the small things in life. I always knew that money wasn’t everything but growing up in a Western Society where status, career and wealth seem to be dominating factors in society and the driving influence of lifestyles, it  is often hard to take a break away from that and realise that life isn’t about the assets and money.

My time in Costa Rica reinforced this and taught me to simplify my life, enjoy experiences and moments, quality time with family and friends, appreciate my natural surrounds and the outdoors, do what I love and to not to worry about being measured against any societal values. This has been a refreshing take on life and one in which I want to continue and adapt too where ever I may move.
